Raven Guard Vanguard Veteran Sergeant

Description

The Raven Guard is done. After many months of inactivity.

And as I put him together, I realised the super-glue had gotten so old it could not get out of the bottle. It was viscous but flowed so badly it just wouldn't budge. I have to get new glue if I am to continue with Finecast and metal minis.

Speaking of Finecast, this mini was so miscast it had to be basically rebuilt. Left shoulder pad had to be resculpted in places, the left hand with chainsword exchanged for a new one (it's a slightly modified one from the Chaos Space Marines plastic frame) and several tiny jingles and jangles had to be removed altogether (hence the ugly as feth purity seal on the left leg).

So, colour:

Black was easy: Black base -> edge highlight of 50/50 mix of Chaos Black and Codex Grey -> finer edge highlight with Codex Grey -> Extreme edge highlight with Fortress Grey.

White was a bit harder:
Fortress Grey base colour -> Shade with Badab Black wash -> Retouch the Fortress Grey -> Highlight with 50/50 mix with Fortress Grey and Skull White -> Edge highlight with an off white, which was essentially 20/80 mix of Fortress Grey and Skull White respectively -> Extreme edge highlight with Skull White.

Metallics were made with Vallejo Model Color metallics. They suck, btw. Don't use them. Citadel Colour metallic paints are better, even if the pots are arse.

If you have any further questions, don't hestitate to ask. I am always happy to answer them.

Love it. I was thinking on using enamel metallics, do you know if its something good ?
