Iron Warriors Squad Aleph by Belazikkal Iron Warriors Squad Aleph by Belazikkal
So, my first squad of Iron Warrior marines.

I've decided that their equipment is, beyond the basic stuff as laid down in Codex Chaos Space Marines, is 2 plasma guns and an Icon of Chaos Glory.
No Asp. Champion with Power fist because that's now a waste of points.

The iron armour was painted as follows:
Tin Bitz drybrush -> Boltgun Metal drybrush -> Badab Black wash -> Boltgun metal layered over ->Chainmail highlights.

Any questions? Feel free to ask!

I love the way that they look, far too many armies look like a mud covered mess for you to even see the colours beneath, I like how yours look like they just got out of the thunderhawk and are getting ready for the fight :)

I've been thinking of giving them some wear in the form of ash. But you have a good point. Battle damage can easily go overboard and Iron Warriors are very susceptible to it, part because of the metallic colour scheme, partly because of the fluff as trench dogs.

And thank you for the kind words.

Overall good work, again. But for my taste they are to clean.

I'm more attracted to the idea of the Iron Warriors as battlefield pragmatics, rather than the techno-barbarism. To each his own, I guess.

wasnt meaned in that way. I tried to say, that the Iron Warriors didnt conquered Hydra Cordatus on a Flower field. The Crawled in the dirty, even maybe wet, trenches. If I wanted some Slaughteres, iŽve would worshiped Khorne.

I Like the Idea of Surgical Bombing, planing and all that but... well. YouŽll get a mess when you enter a battlefield. Hope you get my point. :)

I know. But battle-damage as scratches and such won't show up on metallics any way ;)

As for the dirt and grime: Not confident in my drybrushing enough to dare to do that without ending up with an ungodly mess!

Indeed, "Tin Bitz" is a lovely paint. I have to restrain myself whenever I use it, keep myself from overdoing it. It looks wonderful when used sparingly.

It's a wonderful base metallic. Covers well and works for both silver and gold metallics. Luvely luvely Tin Bitz.

I am sort of wondering why you like them so much? you might've said, but with my schedule being what it is, I have forgotten if you did.

i like them because of th eindustrial-idea they represent.... and militaristic of course. i mean have you seen the movie about the russin sniper in stalingrad? has war, and industrial debris, factories... perfect spot for a sniper tho.. and i also liek them because they dont like mutants, exept oblits, meaning they arent that heresy(i havent read anything about them so i dont know if they are the greatest fan of the heresy..) and i dont know..3 factions of the CSM appeal to me.. the alpha, thousan sons, and them.(and yes i painted black legion because i had abbadon so i wanted a uniformal army)

You're very welcome to do that. Only request I have is that you credit the picture source. Though that's a given in this case, no doubt.

I see you name your squads like I do. The names I come up for them include Gladiator names like Murmillon, Hoplomachum, Arbelas and my Dreadnought is dubbed 'Brother Andabatus.'

Well, I try to avoid a Roman-style. Aleph is the name of the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The next squad will thusly be named Bet. :D

Well my 2 Vindicators are named in a different manner and are both called 'Olympia's Vengeance.' The Predator is called Kampfwagen Panther.

Iron Within! Iron Without!

I quite like these, especially the hazard chevrons on the second plasmagun. Have you thought about adding colour to the plasma gun coils

I actually go against colour on plasma gun coils: they are described as magnetic fields, as nothing more. Why would they glow?

Well, in sci-fi soft science land, I proclaim the trope 'Power Glows'. It's just a personal preference thing for me though.

That and in all the games the plasma coils glow a vibrant blue or crimson (depending on allegiance, since apparently plasma can decide what side it's on now).

I just tend to disagree on the matter of the Power Fist.
One never knows when one might run into a Dreadnought or some monstrous creatures...

Hence the plasma guns and in the other squads, melta guns. I know p-fists are nice stuff to have in CC, but these are after all Iron Warriors: I should be able to kill my enemy from afar with massed fire power ;)
